TCC unit, Dept of OMR, VSPMDCRC conducted a ‘Value added course’ “DE-ADDICTIONTRAINING MODULE” for interns on 7thDecember (level-1) and 8thDecember (level-2) 2022. The event was inaugurated on the Day 1. The audience was addressed and faculty of the event Dr. Dinesh Jagiasi and Dr. Rantandeep Chawla Lifefirst – NarotamSekhsaria Foundationwere welcomed by Dr. Mukta Motwani, HOD, Oral Medicine & Radiology. Dr. Mukta encouraged the interns and emphasized on importance of Tobacco De-addiction Workshop.
On Day 1, pretest was conducted by circulating the google form link on whatsApp group. In the first session Dr Dinesh emphasized on tobacco use, products, prevalence in India and effects in general and oral health. Dr Ratandeep Chawla joined the session through zoom link where she discussed the key aspects of tobacco cessation counseling through 5As and 5Rs.Dr.Chawla made the session interactive by presenting various case scenarios and students were asked to suggest various methods of cessation and counselling.
On 2nd Day of workshop Dr. Chawla took a recap of Day 1. The first session of the day 2 was focused on pharmacotherapeutic management by Dr Dinesh. Various drugs were introduced to the students for tobacco cessation. The second session of Day 2 was based on counselling techniques by Dr. Chawla. After that interns were divided into groups and case discussions and role plays were conducted which made the session interesting. Queries of the students were addressed and the workshop concluded with Post- test.
