In India, the seed for Post-graduate Programme in Periodontics was sown by Dr. G. B. Shankwalkar who introduced the branch of Periodontics in India.Every year we observe the “Oral Hygiene Day” to commemorate the birth anniversary of Late Dr. G.B Shankwalkar.. This year we geared up to celebrate the “National Oral Hygiene Day Celebration Month”from 1st August to 2021on the virtual platform. We looked forward to raise awareness and enlighten minds regarding the importance of Oral Hygiene through various events and competitions.

1.OHD WEBINAR SERIES
A month long Live Webinar Series was organized as a part of Oral Hygiene Day celebration from 1st August –26th August 2021. Ten webinars were organised which encompassed the most proficient speakers from different corners of India.

2.NATIONAL ESSAY COMPETITION
An E-Essay Competition was organised for Undergraduate Students and Interns. The topic for Undergraduates (Category I) was “Brush and Floss, or Prepare for a Loss” and for Interns (Category II) it was “Dentistry is not expensive; Neglect is”.

3.NATIONAL RANGOLI COMPETITION
An online National Rangoli Competition was organised for Dental Students and Dental Professionals with the theme “Be proud of your Mouth”.

4.NATIONAL INSTAGRAM REEL COMPETITION
A National Level Instagram Reel Contest was organized for dental students and dental professionals. The topic for the contest was “Don’t Rush when you Brush”.

5.NATIONAL STREET PLAY COMPETITION A National Street Play Competition was organised for the Undergraduates and Interns with the theme “Healthy Mouth, Healthy Body”.

6.NATIONAL MONOACT COMPETITION
A National Monoact Competition was organized for Dental Students and Dental Professionals.

7.NATIONAL TABLE CLINIC COMPETITION
A National Table Clinic Competition was organized for Post Graduate Students on the topics “Innovations in Periodontics and Implant dentistry” and “Innovations in Interdisciplinary Periodontics”.
