An add on course on basic Oral Implantology was conducted from 19th-22ndSeptember 2022 for Interns and Post graduate students by Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry. About 30 participants were present for the course.The course was conducted in four modules. Each module consisted of lectures and practical demonstration on models and patients. The lectures were delivered by the faculty of the Department of Periodontics, Dr. AbhayKolte, Dr. Pranjali Bawankar, Dr. PrachiRathi and guest lecture was delivered by Dr. TusharShrirao (ex- faculty, Department of Periodontics, VSPM Dental College and research Centre). The Day 1 started with the introduction and sensitization about the course. The schedule for the four-day course was as follows:
Module 01
•Lecture on “Basic surgical anatomy & pre-treatment evaluation”-
•Live demonstration on “Introduction to Implant systems & Surgical implant kit”
Module 02
•Lecture on “Surgical Protocol & soft tissue considerations”
•Live demonstration on “Surgical Implant placement” in patient.
Module 03
•Lecture on “Stage II surgical procedure & implant restoration”
•Live demonstration of “Methods of Impression making” in patient
Module 04
•Lecture on “Types of Implant prosthesis”
•Live demonstration of Final Implant prosthesis on patient.
The pre-test was conducted before the commencement of the course followed by a post-test at the end of the course. All the participants received certificate of completion of course.
