Rejuvenate and Reveal: A week long OMR journey

9th August to 14th August 2021

The department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, VSPM DCRC Nagpur organized a series of lectures titled “Rejuvenate and Reveal: a week long OMR journey”from 9thto 14th august 2021under E-alumnivistasilver jubilee celebrations of the college. The program was hosted by DrAnurag Chaudhary and Dr. RuchaPandharipande. The chief guestfor the event wasDr. RanjitPatil,Professor & Head King George Medical University, Lucknow. Dr Amit Parate, Associate Professor GDC, Aurangabad was the star alumni for the event. The introduction to the department wasgivenby Dr. ApekshaDhole. The event got a great response with 138 registrations anda huge audience watched the event on facebook live.Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. TapasyaKaremore. There was an array of distinguished speakers and moderators who wonderfully integrated the basic concepts of OMR. All the speakers and moderators were alumni of VSPM dental college, Nagpur specialized in the field of oral medicine and radiology.

The first session of the webinar series was conducted by Dr. AbhijeetDeoghare on the topic “Ideal radiograph” and the session was chaired by Dr. AshitaKalaskar who is currently working as an associate professor& HOD in Government Dental College, Nagpur. Dr. Deoghare elaborated fine details about taking and interpreting an ideal radiograph and its importance for general practitionersto help them in better diagnosis.

On Day 2 of webinar series,Dr Aditya Dupare who is currently working as assistant professor at Yogita dental college, Kheddelivered lecture on Radiation Protection and explained in detail about various measures of radiation protection for the operator, patient and environment. His session was chaired by Dr Shweta Gangotri who is working as assistant professor at GDC, Nagpur.

On Day 3 of the webinar seriesDrAshitaKalaskar conducted an interesting session on when to advice 2D or 3D imaging which was chaired by DrAbhijeetDeoghare. The attendees found her presentation very gripping as she facilitated learning through various cases.

On Day 4 of webinar series DrRuchaPandharipande explained about various errors encountered in 2D and 3D imaging in a very explicit manner. Her session was appreciated by the chairperson Dr. SanyuktaGolharwho is working as senior medical informatics specialist at Singapore as well as the attendees on facebook live.

On Day 5 of this webinar series DrApurvaMohiteKhator took up a slightly different topic from the radiology based lecture series titled “Adjunct Investigations” in which she emphasized on the importance of various histopathological and surgical investigations through interesting cases for proper diagnosis and treatment. Her session was chaired by beloved alumni of our institute Dr. Aparajita Dutta who is working as a consultant maxillofacial radiologist in Raipur.

The webinar series was concluded by lecture titled “Infection control and waste management in Radiology” conducted by DrSmirtiJagdhariGolhar in which she spoke about the importance of proper disposal of radiological waste as well as infection control during various radiological procedures. The session was chaired by Dr. PawanMotghare who is the alumni of the our institute and is currently working as assitant professor at Government dental college, Nagpur.

The entire event was planned and executed meticulously under the guidance of Dr.MuktaMotwaniHOD department of OMR and was made successful by the combined effort of all staff members of OMR department.
