The department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, VSPM DCRC, Nagpur organised “a Value added course on thermoforming technology using Biostar/ Ministar” from 2nd to 7th June 2023. Dr.Girish Narayanan, visited the department on behalf of Scheu dental. The inauguration was attended by Dean Dr. UshaRadke along with HODs of various departments. The program was conducted by Dr. ManaliJaiswal. The course was attended by more than 35 participants including staff and post graduates of dept of Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Pedodontics& Oral medicine & Radiology. The course began with a lecture on thermoforming technology. Dr Girish explained the nuances of appliance fabrication with biostar machine. He also explained the wide product range of sheets and other material required for fabrication of various orthodontic &prosthodontic appliances.

On day 2, 3rdjune 23, there was demonstration on fabrication of prosthodontic appliances and TMJ splints.

On day 3 &4, (5th & 6th June 23) ), a demonstration on fabrication of orthodontic appliances was done. The students also made various appliances under the guidance of Dr Narayanan. The course was well appreciated by the staff and students who participated in the hands on workshop.

The program concluded on 7rdjune with a demonstration of maintenance of the biostar machine.
