Traffic Awareness Campaign At Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College & Research Centre

The NSS Unit of Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur, organized a Traffic Awareness Campaign on 31st August 2025 with the aim of creating awareness among students, interns, and staff about the importance of road safety and responsible driving. Road traffic injuries continue to be a serious public health issue, and the program was conducted to sensitize youth towards following traffic rules and preventing accidents.

The event was graced by eminent speakers Mr. Akash Anil Walde, Assistant Inspector, Motor Vehicle, and Mr. Rahul Bhagat, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, who delivered lectures highlighting the need for strict adherence to traffic discipline. They highlighted the importance of helmets and seatbelts, speed control, avoidance of mobile phone use while driving, and the dangers of drunken driving. The speakers highlighted the vital role of citizens in ensuring road discipline, showing respect towards pedestrians, and acting swiftly during emergencies.The program began with the lighting of the traditional lamp by Dean Dr. Abhay Kolte, Vice Dean Dr. S. R. Shenoy, Chairpers on of NSS Committee Dr. Venugopal Reddy, and the guest speakers Shri Rahul Bhagat and Shri Akash Walde, in the presence of NSS committee members, faculty, and student volunteers. A brief introduction of the guest speakers and the objectives of the campaign were presented by Dr. Sushil Naik, who underlined the significance of traffic awareness in day-to-day life.

The campaign proved to be highly effective in spreading awareness among 87 students about the value of traffic discipline. The interactive sessions and real-life examples shared by the speakers left a strong impression on participants, inspiring them to act as ambassadors of road safety. The NSS Unit plans to carry forward the message by organizing cyber awareness sessions, pledge campaigns, and awareness drives in the near future, ensuring that the impact of the program is sustained beyond the event.
