Health Science Education Technology Committee (HSET) Objectives and SOPs

The institute has formed dental education unit on 10th July 2012.It was called as DET ,while recently it is remade as HSET, Health science education technology as per MUHS guidelines.

Structure of Committee: It consist of Dean of the college as chairperson, one HOD as a co- ordinator and all HODs as core committee members, one staff representative from each department

Purpose-
• To understand the changing need of student and to facilitate them with newer methods of learning, faculty should be continuously adopt better methods of teaching.

• To provide quality dental healthcare to community by excellence in dental education

Scope
• To create & sustain well trained faculty base and to encourage education related research for academic advancement.

Objectives:
1. Faculty development: training the teachers in framing objectives, selecting proper teaching learning methods, etc.
2. Design and implement faculty development programmes.
3. Conduct education related research: in the form of inquiry driven strategies in various aspects of medical education.
4. Serve as a resource centre: both for personnel and educational materials.
5. Developing network with other institutions in India and abroad.
6. Instructional design: to provide guidelines for curriculum development and implement the changes effectively.

Procedure
1.The committee organizes ‘Resident as a Teacher’ and ‘Research Methodology’ workshop every year for post-graduate students.
2. The committee organizes e-learning training programme every year for the faculty
3. The committee organizes various faculty development programmes regarding teaching- learning and assessment. Additionally, it promotes the educational research by various faculty members in the college.
4. The committee also organizes training programmes such as soft skills development, leadership, time management for undergraduate students to improve their academic performance
5. The unit publishes ‘PRIDE’, a journal depicting educational research and innovations in teaching-learning practices once in year.
6. Committee meetings are conducted quarterly to plan and execute the activities.
7. Committee conducts at least four faculty development programs in a year.
