The Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics at Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College & Research Centre successfully conducted a two-day workshop titled “Foundations in MARPE (Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion)” as part of ORTHOPRO 2025.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, led by Guest Speaker Dr. Gauri Vichare, Dean Dr. Abhay Kolte, Vice Dean, and HOD Dr. Usha Shenoy. The ceremony was followed by the felicitation of distinguished guests and alumni, including Dr. Vyas, Dr. Achint, Dr. Honey, Dr. Avanti Kulkarni, and Dr. Jyotsna Shinde, in recognition of their contributions to the field and their continued connection with the institution.
A welcome address was delivered by HOD Dr. Usha Shenoy, followed by an encouraging speech from Dean Dr. Abhay Kolte. Dr. Ananya Hazare formally introduced Dr. Gauri Vichare, emphasizing her extensive clinical and academic experience spanning over three decades. Dr. Gauri Vichare was then honoured with a token of appreciation and a certificate by the department. Dr. Gauri Vichare delivered a comprehensive lecture on MARPE, covering:

• Clinical indications and biomechanics
• Screw placement protocols and appliance selection
• Case selection criteria and treatment planning
• Evidence-based outcomes and real-life case studies

The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in in-depth discussion and clinical queries during the extended Q&A discussion.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanika Thakur, expressing gratitude to Dr. Vichare, the college leadership, organizing team, and all attendees for their active participation and contribution to the program’s success.
