Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology in Collaboration with Alumni Association VSPM Dental College & Research Centre, Nagpur organised a two days Webinar Series, entitled “TELEDENTISTRY – NEED OF THE HOUR” on 5th & 6th October 2020.

Dr. Mukta Motwani, Professor and Head of the Department VSPM Dental College Nagpur and Organizing Chairperson, welcomed the speaker followed by a brief speech on webinar topic and its corelation in this Covid 19 Pandemic era by Dr. Usha Radke, Dean of the institute. The programme also was graced by Dr. S. R. Shenoi, Vice Dean of the institute, who also appraised the relevance of the webinar topic in this megapandemic era. Dean and Vice Dean both expressed happiness and were overwhelmed as programme was lectured by Alumni of the institute as guest speakers, for the same.

On 1st day October 5^th our first speaker for the programme Dr. Smriti Golhar who is currently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Oral medicine & Radiology, VSPM Dental College Nagpur, delivered a lecture on Principles of Antimicrobial agents-A meticulous approach to fight infection and enlightened about the use of antibiotics and its principles of usage. Our second speaker for the programme Dr. Neha Iyer working as consultant Maxillofacial Radiologist delivered a lecture on  topic Good from far or Far from good? Telemedicine/ Teledentistry enlightened about the acceptance of the new normal principle while prescribing the patients on various Modes and Medias of Telemedicine its principles includng e-prescription in terms of various online applications. The sessions were moderated by Dr Neeta Misra, Prof & Head Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, BBD Dental college Lucknow Uttar Pradesh and Dr Mandavi Waghmare, Prof. & Head, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, DY Patil Dental School of Dentistry University Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

On 2^nd  day October 6^th our first speaker for the programme Dr. Aparajita Dutta who is currently working as consultant Maxillofacial Radiologist ad 3 D Dental Scan Centre Raipur delivered a lecture on  topic Advance Dental Imaging  COVID – 19 and Beyond and highlighted about the various advanced Imging Modalities and there indications during current situation of Covid pandemic. Our second speaker for the programme Dr. Anuraag Choudhary, working as Associate Professor, Department of Oral medicine & Radiology VSPM Dental College, Nagpur and Consultant Maxillofacial Radiologist, Phoenix Imaging Centre Nagpur, shared lecture and his experience on  topic Teleradiology in Dentistry-  Casting off the Transient and Revealing the Trurth, and discussed about Teleradiology and its scope  for the safe practise, its impact on future dentistry and advantages for facilitating early diagnosis and treatment of patients in this Megapandemic era. The programme was hosted by Dr Apurva Mohite Assistant Professor, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, VSPM Dental College Nagpur. The sessions were moderated by Dr Ajay Bhoosreddy, Prof & Head Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, MGVM Dental college Nashik, Maharashtra and Dr Shalu Rai, Prof. & Head, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Institute of Dental science, Modinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The prgramme was attended live on Facebook live application and site of VSPM Dental College Nagpur by a total number of 531participants

The programme was planned and executed by Dr. Mukta Motwani Prof. & Head with her team of staff members which included Dr.Apeksha Balpande Professor Department of Oral medicine & Radiology VSPM Dental College, imparted the significance of Telemedicine and Teleradiology combined to form Teledentistry and its significance in current situation. Dr. Tapasya Karemore Associate Professor, Department of Oral medicine & Radiology VSPM Dental College delivered vote of thanks for the programme. All the departmental post graduate students also contributed to the success of the programme.
