World Prosthodontist Day Celebrations 2025
Department of Prosthodontics, Ranjeet Deshmukh Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur in association with the Indian Society of Prosthodontics, Nagpur Branch celebrated ‘World Prosthodontist Day 2025’ by organizing various academic as well as public awareness activities from 18th to 30th January 2025 for Patients, UG& PG Students, Non-Teaching staff and general public as a whole.

A live international webinar on ‘Prosthodontic Consideration for TMJ Disorders’ on 23/01/2025. The Guest Speaker was Dr.ArchanaWakode (MDS, Prosthodontics) who is practicing in USA since past few decades. Dr.Shilpa Shetty (President, Indian Prosthodontic Society) wasthe Guest of Honour for this event. Dr.Neelam Pande (Head- Dept of Prosthodontics,RDDCRC, Nagpur) delivered the welcome address. Dr.Anuj Chandak (Assoc Prof, Dept of Prosthodontics, RDDCRC, Nagpur) introduced the moderator for the session Dr.Saee Deshpande (Professor- Dept of Prosthodontics, RDDCRC, Nagpur) whointroduced the speaker and moderated the session. Dr.Rajlakshmi Banerjee (AssocProf, Dept. of Prosthodontics, RDDCRC, Nagpur), Dr Akhil Rathi, Dr Priti Jaiswal (Assoc Prof, Dept of Prosthodontics, RDDCRC, Nagpur) and all Prosthodontists aswell as PG students took active part in the discussion following the didactic session.The webinar was attended by 46 participants from Nagpur and nearby regions. The ‘Teeth Arrangement Competition’ held on 21/01/2025 was a resounding success, bringing togetheraspiring Post Graduates students to celebrate the significance of Prosthodontics in thefield of Dentistry. The event was organized and guided by Dr.NeelamPande, HOD,Department of Prosthodontics and it featured participants showcasing their skills inarranging artificial teeth in an aesthetically pleasing and functional manner. Thecompetition aimed to encourage creativity and precision in the art of teetharrangement, highlighting the importance of prosthodontics and fostering a spirit ofhealthy competition among Post Graduates students. The Competition was Judged by Dr.Vijeta Gajbhiye and Dr Anushree Bhoge and the winners were Dr.UtkarshAndewho secured first prize amongst the 3rd year PG and Dr.Dheeraj Bhoyar and Dr. Shreya Kukreja securing the second prize amongst 2nd year PGs. A unique ‘Best out of Dental Materials” competition was also organised for the undergraduate students on 21st January 2025. Total 46 students participated in this competition with full enthusiasm and showed their creativity. Dr Alka Dive, Professor and Head, Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology judged the competition. Dean, Dr AbhayKolte and Professor & Head, Dept of Prosthodontics, Dr Neelam Pande appreciated the efforts showed by all the participants. Dr.Jayashree Joshi, Lecturer and Dr. Anita Kahar, Lecturer, Dept. of Prosthodontics were the coordinators for this competition. All the non-teaching staff worked hard for the successful conduction of this competition.On 21st October 2025, ‘Prosthodontist Day Rangoli’ competition was organized for non-teaching staff by Dr.Jaishree Chahande, Lecturer, Dept. of Prosthodontics. On 22ndJanuary 2025, all winners of Rangoli competition were felicitated by Dean, Dr.Abhay Kolte and HOD, Dr.Neelam Pande. Mrs. Sunita Chatur, PG Section Nurse and Mrs. Uma Bhoyar, Attendant secured First prize; Mrs. Vandana Satpute, UG Section Nurse and Mrs. Chanda Wankhede secured Second prize and Mrs. Neeta Chaudhari, Clerk and Mr. Satish Marbate, Attendant secured Third Prize.

A dental check up and awareness camp was organized in Dande Hospital Ramnagar on 24th Jan 2025, around 30 patients were screened and took advantage of the camp.For public awareness and improving Prosthodontic rehabilitation knowledge, a walkathon was organised in the college campus with an engaging skit performance by the first-year postgraduatestudents in the Medical and Physiotherapy OPDs in the NKP Campus and Sitabuldi metro station. The skit effectively demonstrated thesignificant role of Prosthodontists in improving the quality of life for patients, with an emphasison the importance of both functional and aesthetic outcomes in dental care.A ‘Metrothon’ was also organised in association with IPS Nagpur Branch from LokmanyaNagar Metro Station to SitabuldiMetro Station in the presence of Dr.UshaRadke, the Founder President of IPS Nagpur Branch as the Guest of Honour and Mr Gaurav Shende, Senior Controller Metro as the Chief Guest,President Elect Dr.SattyamWankhade, Dr.Rajlakshmi Banerjee, Secretary IPS Nagpur Branch, Treasurer Dr.YogeshIngole as well as EC members Dr.PritiJaiswal and Dr. Vinay Kothari. Educational pamphlets were distributed to general public about available prosthodontic rehabilitation options. Following the awareness campaign a free dental check-up camp was also held at Sitabuldi metro stationfor the employees and general public. All the teaching & non-teaching staff and Post Graduate students worked hard for the success of all the programmes related to Prosthodontist day celebrations, 2025.
