Adjunct professor, dept of Orthodontics, Dr. Gauri Vichare visited on 25 th and 26 th
April 2022. This was her second visit to the dept. in the capacity of adjunct
professor. Rigorous scientific activities were planned for both the days.
The day began with a formal welcome and introduction of the post graduate students. In the first half of the day, Dr. Vichare gave an enlightening lecture on Class III malocclusion. Her insights were well appreciated by staff and students alike. She highlighted several aspects of diagnosis and treatment of Class iii malocclusions which are very helpful in the clinical scenario. The audience was so engrossed in the deliberation that no one realized they had been interacting with madam for 4 full hours without break. Post lunch, case discussions were held on day 1. The post graduate students presented surgical Class III cases and various treatment options were discussed. The first day concluded with Dr. Sharvari Khedkar summarizing the Class III treatment modalities.
On the second day, students were eagerly waiting to interact with Dr. Vicahre. Case presentations of exam going students were scheduled on Day 2. Dr. Apeksha and Dr. Apurva presented 5 cases each. The cases included myofunctional cases, growth modulation, fixed orthodontic cases, skeletal malocclusions, asymmetry etc. Each case was thoroughly discussed. Dr. Vichare appreciated Dr. Apeksha for her neat work. Dr. Vichare gave her insights on the all cases. She also gave tips for better finishing of the cases. The second day concluded with a demonstration of table clinic models on common sense mechanics by , the second year students, Dr. Sharvari and Dr. Sanjeevani. Both the sessions were very informal and interactive. The students gained a lot from from Dr. Vichare’s insights. The day came to an end but neither Madam nor the students wanted to end the session. Dr. Vichare patiently answered all the doubts and promised to come soon for the next session.
