PRIDE
The Dental Education Technology Unit of VSPM Dental College and Research Centre, Nagpur has started in 2012. Since then, the college has always strived/aimed for achieving excellence in the field of health care education. It is promoting and encouraging quality research in the field of Dental Education. Also, it is a constant effort of the DET Unit, to inculcate the newer teaching-learning techniques as well as the innovative practices to improve the standard of Education.
Mission of DET Unit:
To create and sustain well trained faculty base and promote educational research for academic advancement.
Vision of DET Unit:
To provide quality dental healthcare for community through excellence in dental education. With this vision and mission, the DET unit has started faculty development programs; promoted dental education related research and conducted various Continuing Dental Education programs. The continued thrust of improvement in dental education technology using various platforms, a need was felt for a quality journal on dental education technology. Although quite a few journals are available on medical education technology, our journal stands out for being exclusively focused on dental education technology. This annual journal highlights the various articles on research, innovations, review of various education technologies used for dentistry. The first issue of the journal was published in 2018. The basic objectives of this journal are
1. To provide a platform for scholastic presentations.
2. To promote exhibition of innovative techniques in teaching
3. To promote research on integrated teaching technology
4. To allow researchers to share their research on Educational Technology
We are sure that this Annual Online journal will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas and information between the professionals and motivate them to use newer technologies in teaching.

This sections deals with perspectives, ideas and innovations done in dental education technology by the stalwarts in the field. - Avenues
Various areas to practice dental education technology like research subjects , teaching technologies, literature, fellowships, short courses or platforms including online media, portals and universities are introduced through this section which helps readers to explore scope of dental education technology. - New Education Practices
Innovations and nuances of teaching-learning methods practiced by teachers are presented through this section. A brief report of teaching method practiced, and the observations and experiences of the same are highlighted in this section. - Students’ Page (P.G. and U.G.)
Students perception, their experiences about teaching methodologies practiced, innovations, curriculum, and also, their vision to improve teaching learning methods are invited and compiled as a manuscript. Undergraduates and postgraduates contribute for this section of journal. - Research
Randomized controlled trials, cross sectional studies, observational studies and reported new facts or analysis carried out in the field of dental education technology are included in this section. - Review
This section includes review articles that summarize the current state and understanding of a particular topic and summarizes previously published studies in the literature. - Artical Critique
A published article on teaching learning from an indexed journal is critically analysed and commented by experienced faculty and published in ‘PRIDE’ with the abstract of original article. This includes critical analysis of study design, methods, results and conclusion drawn from the selected article.

Author Guidelines
Editorial Process:
All submitted manuscripts will be reviewed by the Editorial office with the understanding that they are being submitted to one journal at a time and have not been published, simultaneously submitted or already accepted for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts with insufficient originality and scientific or technical flaws will be rejected. Manuscripts are sent to two or more expert reviewers without revealing the identity of the contributors to the reviewers. Each manuscript is also assigned to a member of the editorial team. Manuscript would be edited for grammar, contents, punctuation, and format. Editorial team takes a final decision on the manuscript based on the comments from the reviewers. The contributors will be informed about the reviewers’ comments and acceptance/rejection of manuscript within 3-4 weeks. Authors should address the corrections if any, and has to be answered within 4-5 days. Correction received after that period will not be entertained.
Authorship Criteria:
1. All persons designated as authors should be listed properly.
2. The sequence of the authorship should not be changed /deleted/ or any other change will not be permissible, without valid reasons and permission of the Editor -in-
Chief.
Contribution Details:
1.All Authors should contribute significantly towards the research study i.e., (a) conception, design and/or analysis and interpretation of data and to (b) article drafting or revising it for intellectual content and on (c) final approval of the version to be published.
2. For an original study, the number of authors should not exceed six. For a review article, the number of authors should not exceed four.
Conflicts of Interest:
All authors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest. Editorial board reserves full rights if any conflicts arise.
Types of Manuscripts:
1. Original Articles: Intervention studies, cross sectional studies and surveys related to dental education technology are included in this section. Word limit is up to 4000 words excluding references and abstract.
2. Review Articles: This section includes summary, compiled data of previously published studies carried out in dental education. Word limit is up to 3000 words excluding references and abstract.
3. New Education Practices: Innovative methods in teaching and learning practiced by faculty are presented in this section. A brief report of findings and observations are highlighted in this section.
4. Students Page: Students perception, experiences, innovations about teaching learning methods are highlighted in this section of the journal. Short write ups are invited and compiled as a manuscript. Undergraduates and postgraduates are given preference for publication in this section.
Manuscript preparation
1. First Page File /Title Page
The Title page should include:
1. Types of manuscript : Original article, Review, New Education Practices, Students Page
2. The title of the article, which should be concise, but informative.
3. Running title or short title not more than 50 characters.
4. The name of each author / contributor (Last name, First name and initials of middle name) and institutional affiliation. The affiliations should be given as 1, 2 and 3.
5. The name of the department(s) and institution(s) to which the work should be attributed.
6. The total number of pages, total number of photographs, and word counts separately for abstract and for the text excluding the references and abstract should be mentioned.
7. Source(s) of support in the form of grants, equipment, materials.
8. Acknowledgment and conflict of interest if any. This should be included in the title page of the manuscript and not in the main article file.
9. If the manuscript was presented as part of a meeting, then mention the name of the organization, place, and exact date on which it was presented.
2. Article File
Article file includes:
Abstract
An abstract should not be more than 250 words. The abstract should be structured for original articles. State the context (background), aims, settings and design, material and methods, statistical analysis used, results, and conclusions. Provide 3 to 8 keyword, arranged alphabetically, below the abstract.
Introduction
State the purpose and summarize the study or observation. It should be up to 250 to 300 words.
Materials and Methods
The Methods section should describe the selection of the criteria of the participants clearly, including eligibility and exclusion criteria and a description of the source population. Explain clarity about how and why a study was done in a particular way. When authors use variables such as race or ethnicity, they should define how they measured the variables and justify their relevance.
Statistics
Specify the statistical methods used to analyze data in the study. Define statistical terms, abbreviations, and most symbols. Use upper italics (P < 0.05).
Results
Present the results in logical sequence in the text, tables, and illustrations. Do not repeat all the data of the tables or illustrations in the text again.
Discussion
Include in the discussion section, the new and important aspects of the study, implications of the findings, and their limitations; relate the observations to other relevant studies. Also, state the implications for future research.
References
References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text (not in alphabetic order). Identify references in text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in superscript. References cited only in tables or figure legends should be numbered in accordance with the sequence established by the first identification in the text of the particular table or figure.
Submission of the Manuscripts:
All manuscripts must be submitted online only through the pride.vspm@gmail.com. Attach first-page file & article file in the email separately.
While submitting an article, the following items must be included. Manuscripts that do not adhere to the following instructions will be returned to the corresponding author for technical revision.
1. First Page File: All information that can reveal your identity should be here. Prepare the title page; include author details, address, and telephone number of all the authors. Mention the corresponding author. Also include covering letter, acknowledgment, etc. Use text/RTF/doc files. Do not zip the files.
2. Article file: The main text of the article, beginning from Abstract to References (including images and tables) should be in this file. Do not include any information such as acknowledgment, your name in page headers, etc., in this file. Do not zip the files. Limit the file size to 500 kb. Use the Vancouver style for referencing. (Images: Submit good quality color images with properly written legends below. Each image should be less than 5 MB in size. Keep the Size of the image up to 1800 x 1200 pixels or 5-6 inches. Image format jpeg is acceptable.)
Presentation and format of the manuscript
Double spacing between the lines.
Font: Times New Roman/Arial, size -12.
Margins 2.5 cm from all four sides.
The First Page File /Title page contains all the desired information.
Running title provided (not more than 50 characters)
The Abstract provided not more than 250 words.
Keywords provided (three or more)
Introduction of 250-300 words
Headings in title case (not ALL CAPITALS)
References cited in superscript in the text without brackets.
